Sachets are back in the shop!

July 18, 2017

Cobalt DNA sachets - relaxing scent for your bedside table

2017 has been a pretty crazy year so far, and many of us are re-examining our self-care routines, and looking for ways to relax and enjoy more time at home. It feels like a perfect time to bring back a fresh batch of our linen lavender sachets, made in collaboration with Minor Thread.

As always, our lavender sachets are made with organic lavender, and handmade in California. For this batch, we’ve chosen eight fabrics from the new Arroyo collection to create the sachets ⏤ a rainbow of naturally scented sachets to bring life to your linen closet or bedside table. Find all the new sachets in the shop!

Interview in Seamwork Magazine

July 11, 2017

Erin Dollar interviewed for Seamwork MagazineI feel so humbled to have been interviewed in Seamwork Magazine this month! I am always in awe of anyone who can sew their own clothing ⏤ sewing curves and delicate seams is a whole other ballgame compared to the relatively simple designs I sew for Cotton & Flax. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to share my story with Seamwork’s community of talented makers.

In the interview, I talk a bit about Arroyo, my new fabric collection with Robert Kaufman, as well as the ways that I bring my ethics and sustainable mindset to my work at Cotton & Flax. Check out the full interview in Seamwork Magazine to learn more about my background as a maker, as well as my future goals for Cotton & Flax.

C&F Spotted on Instagram

July 5, 2017

Cotton & Flax patterned coastersI’m always so happy to see Cotton & Flax pieces in use in your homes. Today I’m sharing some recent customer photos I spotted on Instagram! This first snap of an impressive coaster pile is from Cotton & Flax stockist Hop & Dox.

Cotton & Flax tea towels in JOIN shopI’m happy to see more photos of my new stockist JOIN Shop starting to appear online. If you live in Seattle, stop by and check out Cotton & Flax tea towels, and tons of other beautifully designed home goods and gifts.

Simple Breakfast with linen tea towel - Cotton & FlaxI love grapefruit (pamplemousse, anyone??), and this lovely shot from customer Amanda Krovic makes a minimalist breakfast look so beautiful. I love that Cotton & Flax tea towels are used for everything from drying dishes, to an informal oversized placemat.

Cotton & Flax trivets with ceramics by Linda HsiaoThis beautifully composed shot features Cotton & Flax trivets, paired with beautiful ceramic bowls made by LA-based artist Linda Hsiao. I love seeing our work together!

Simple table setting - Cotton & FlaxFinally, this gorgeous place setting features our bestselling charcoal confetti coaster, along with other artisan-made tabletop goods (and a perfectly ripe avocado). A big thank you to Carrie from Half Hitch Goods for sharing this photo.

Stenciling on Fabric with The Crafter’s Box

June 13, 2017

Hand printed linen throw blanket - DIY via The Crafter's Box

This month, I’m thrilled to be partnering with The Crafter’s Box, to bring you another fun workshop: Stenciled Linen Throw Blankets! This is my second time collaborating with The Crafter’s Box for an online workshop, and I still love their format: you receive a box of high-quality craft materials in the mail, and log-in to enjoy the online workshop at your own pace. If you’ve been curious about stenciling on fabric, or creating your own large-scale designs on fabric, this is the workshop for you!

They focus on workshops led by experts, who guide you through every step of a creative project, and provide live feedback during a monthly maker chat in their forums. The materials they send for each project are always beautiful — this month, we’ll be sending a gorgeous flax linen throw, which will look beautiful with the vibrant cobalt blue and black inks we’re including for the project. It can be used as a blanket, or a tablecloth for all your summer adventures!

Patterned linen tablecloth - DIY via The Crafter's BoxI hope you’ll join me for this workshop! You can sign up from today through June 20th — after that, enrollment closes, so they can pack up your boxes, and get them delivered in July. It’s a short sign-up window, so don’t delay. I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!

Upcoming Events: West Coast Craft

June 1, 2017

West Coast Craft Summer 2017I’m looking forward to returning to San Francisco this month for West Coast Craft, my favorite art and design show on the west coast! This event brings together up-and-coming designers from all over the west coast, and highlights some truly amazing craftspeople. I’m honored to have been invited to participate for a fifth time!

I’ll be bringing fabric yardage from my new Arroyo collection, as well as a selection of new one-of-a-kind pieces made with Arroyo! Think patchwork pillows, quilts, and some framed quilt blocks that highlight the beauty of quilting with linen.

If you live in the Bay area, stop by West Coast Craft at Fort Mason Center on June 10-11 to see check out my work in person, and see the incredible work of 200+ west coast designers.
