New Bandanas for Cool Dogs

May 30, 2017

Joni with a bandanaTo celebrate the recent launch of my fabric collection, Arroyo, I’ve been making some bandanas for my favorite pups! I’ve been sharing some of the #patternpups on Instagram, but I thought it would be fun to showcase a bunch of them here, too. Above, we’ve got Joni the Shepherd, who lives with Bianca from Chaparral Studio.

June the dogKate‘s pup June might be the happiest pup I’ve ever seen, and she looks even spottier than usual in her Arroyo bandana!

Bucky with a bandanaNichole‘s dog Bucky, he’s such a good boy!

Yoshi in a bandanaThis cutie pug is Yoshi, wearing an appropriately green dotty bandana!

Morgan the Beagle - Arroyo BandanasMorgan the Beagle is happily sporting a blue DNA print bandana, while relaxing in the shade.

Brooks in a Cotton & Flax Bandana Love this snapshot of Brooks the Mutt in a Hills & Valleys print bandana — the pattern mirrors that puppy tongue!

Does your pup need a Cotton & Flax bandana? Yardage of Arroyo will be available in stores soon, and this project couldn’t be easier. Leave me a comment on Instagram if you plan to create one for your dog!

New Pillow Designs Debut at ICFF

May 22, 2017

New pillows from Cotton & Flax - ICFF 2017 Debut I have two new pillow designs debuting this week at ICFF in New York, as part of an exhibition called Make Use, which was co-curated by JOIN Design and Rejuvenation. This exhibition is part of NYCxDesign, a multi-week celebration of global design that takes place yearly in New York.

Make Use - Join Design's curated exhibition at ICFF 2017Make Use will debut a new collection of objects for the home from 14 West Coast-based studios. Our design philosophy for this collection was rooted in simple, natural materials, and designs that celebrate the maker’s hand, and honor the everyday. My new designs, a pair of wool felt pillows, sewn in a patchwork design from scraps of felt that I had saved from other projects, combines my design values of high-quality materials and a no-waste studio environment.

I’m delighted to be featured in an exhibition that celebrates straightforward design and the beauty in utility associated with West Coast Craftsmanship. If you’re in New York for ICFF, stop by booth #233 and check out my new work!

Thread Collaboration with Aurifil

May 18, 2017

Designer Thread Collections - Erin Dollar for Aurifil

I’m so happy to share another fun collaboration that’s debuting this summer: a thread collection created in collaboration with Aurifil! This box of 12 large spools of 100% cotton thread is perfect for anyone who loves to sew. Aurifil’s 50wt thread is great for hand sewing or machine sewing, and you can use it for all sorts of projects, including quilts, bags, and clothing.

I chose colors that compliment my new fabric collection, Arroyo, but many of these colors will look familiar from their use in the classic Cotton & Flax products. The thread collection is available now, via one of my favorite online fabric shops, Fat Quarter Shop!

Explorer Tote Bags – Made with Arroyo

May 12, 2017

DIY Patterned Tote BagOne of the most exciting things about debuting Arroyo, my first fabric collection with Robert Kaufman, is seeing the finished projects roll in as designers and sewers get their hands on the fabric. These beautiful bags were created by Anna Graham of Noodlehead, using her Explorer Tote pattern. I’m completely obsessed, and while I’ve skipped adding bags to the Cotton & Flax product line until now, these bags have me daydreaming…

Arroyo Explorer Tote BagSeeing other’s creativity shine as they adapt my fabrics in new ways is so exciting — it’s such a pleasure to see artists like Anna integrate my patterns into her designs.

DIY Patterned Tote BagI love all the lovely details in these bags! The gorgeous leather straps, that shiny little clasp… even the contrasting liner fabric is a charming accent. Anna’s tote bag pattern walks you through all the steps of creating this bag, and she’ll guide you in selecting materials that will age beautifully.

DIY Patterned Tote Bag DIY Explorer Tote BagArroyo fabric will be debuting in fabric and sewing stores this summer! Ask your favorite shop if they’ll be carrying it. As more projects start rolling in, I’ll be sharing them here on the blog, as well as on Instagram under #ArroyoFabric. I can’t wait to see what you’ll create with this fabric!
