West Coast Craft in San Francisco this weekend!

November 10, 2015

Cotton & Flax at West Coast Craft

I’ll be returning to San Francisco this weekend for my favorite show of the year: West Coast Craft, a craft and design show featuring carefully selected artists and craftspeople living and working on the West Coast. I’m looking forward to connecting with lots of my favorite makers, and doing my own holiday shopping!

West Coast Craft takes place at Fort Mason Center (in the Festival Pavillion) from 10 – 6 on November 14th and 15th. It’s free to attend, so bring friends and show your support for local designers!

Cotton & Flax will be at booth H10, with tons of coasters, tea towels, napkins, notebooks, and pillows – plus some special new pieces that I created just for WCC. Come say hello!

Upcoming Event: Eastside Handmade in LA

November 4, 2015

eastside handmade flyer

I’m looking forward to participating in Eastside Handmade this Saturday, November 7th! This is a great local event, which takes place on the eastside of LA, at Highland Park’s best vintage shop, Shopclass. This will be Eastside Handmade’s holiday sale, and likely the best place to find unique gifts from some of eastside LA’s coolest designers and makers.

The sale runs from 11-5pm, and I’ll be bringing all sorts of gifts and goods, plus a brand new, super gift-able product that I haven’t had time to photograph yet! Come start your holiday shopping early, and check out Cotton & Flax goods in person!

October Recap

October Recap - Cotton & Flax

Can you believe it’s already November?! Where did this year go? I didn’t have much time to blog in October, so I thought I’d recap some of the highlights from the last few weeks.

Cotton & Flax was a design category finalist in Martha Stewart’s American Made awards!

The American Made awards wasn’t my only brush with Martha this month… I had the opportunity to share my advice for throwing an impromptu party, and how to keep your cool while you’re hosting a last-minute get together on Martha Stewart’s site.

As I was flipping through Rue Magazine last week, I was delighted to discover a Cotton & Flax Hills + Valleys pillow in Maia’s picks of the month. Plus, I can’t forget to include the gorgeous tour of Vane Broussard’s living room — featuring our zig zag pillows.

Cotton & Flax pillows in Land of Salt

Cotton & Flax also has two new retail stockists to announce this month: Arroyo General here in Los Angeles, and Land of Salt in Salt Lake City. I love working with small independent shops like these, and I hope to highlight more of my stockists soon, to give you ideas of where to shop small for the holidays.

As for the studio side, it’s been a busy month prepping to launch the Holiday Collection! Lots of time spent getting all the little details in place for the launch, so I’m extra glad to see the new pieces up in the shop. I’m looking forward to getting feedback on these new pieces during the next few weeks, as I participate in some pop-up shops and holiday markets. I’ll be sharing lots of updates on Instagram, so join me there if you want to see what’s going on day-to-day!

The Holiday Collection is Here!

October 29, 2015

Set the table with bold pattern - The Holiday Collection from Cotton & Flax

I’m so excited to debut new cloth napkins, drink coasters, and felt trivets today, as part Cotton & Flax’s new Holiday Collection! All the tabletop goods in this collection are designed with entertaining in mind. This time of year can be hectic, and slowing down to enjoy a meal or a drink with friends and loved ones is one of the best ways to mark the season.

I aim to create pieces that will make hosting a dinner party or cocktail hour a little more fun. I hope this California-inspired lookbook gets you excited about entertaining friends during the holiday season.

Patterned cocktail napkins from Cotton & Flax

This new afterparty napkin design comes in two colorways: flax linen (a Cotton & Flax classic), or a beautiful dark green, which is a gross between a dark forest and teal shade. Either option makes a great addition to holiday cocktail hour.

Trivets are finally back in the shop! Felt trivets have become a staple in my home, they make any dinner table feel more festive. Plus, they are as useful as they are beautiful – they protect your table top from heat and scratches, while adding a graphic pop of pattern to the decor.

This lookbook came together with the help of some amazing friends: Laure Joliet photographed the scene, expertly styled by Caroline Hwang. My lovely friends Katie and Lisa also joined us for the afternoon, and the dinner that Caroline created for us was truly delicious. I love the way Laure’s photos capture magic hour in LA.

I’ll be sharing more details about the individual products in the collection in the next week, but you visit the shop now to see what’s new. Let me know what you think of the holiday collection over on Instagram or Twitter!
