Best Online Fabric Stores

November 25, 2017

Arroyo Fabric from Erin DollarAfter sharing my favorite fabric retailers last year, I thought it would be helpful to highlight the best online fabric stores, including a few that will be carrying my new collection, Arroyo! Knowing where to buy fabric online opens the doors to so many DIY projects – everything from reupholstering a chair, to sewing your own throw pillows. You may even be thinking about sewing some holiday gifts!

I love to browse through an independent fabric shop – nothing beats the feeling of running your hands over bolts of fabric. If you can shop for fabric in person, it’s a great way to check the color, weight, and drape, and to discover new fabric designers you’ve never seen before.

Unfortunately, many indie fabric stores have closed over the past few years, so many of us don’t have a local fabric shop in our area anymore. If this is the case for you, I’m happy to share my tips and sources to buy fabric online, so you can find beautiful fabrics from anywhere. If you’re not sure where to buy fabric online, I’ve got a list of 17 of my favorite online fabric stores below….

Shop Local this Weekend at West Coast Craft

November 13, 2017

West Coast Craft in San FrancsicoI’m excited to have Cotton & Flax goods exhibited in San Francisco this weekend at West Coast Craft! This two day art and design fair is one of my favorite events of the year, and it’s open to the public. I’d definitely plan to start holiday shopping early; there will be over 250 artists and makers selling their work at the show. I won’t be able to attend in person this time, but my dear friend Bianca from Chaparral Studio is going to be running our booth with her own beautiful flair.

If you live in the SF Bay area, stop by Fort Mason this weekend and say hello!

Seconds Coasters on Sale!

November 7, 2017

Cotton & Flax coasters on sale!

After doing a little bit of studio reorganization last week, I found a bunch of seconds coasters that I’ve just added to the shop! These coasters are just a little bit smaller than normal, about 3.75″ instead of 4″ square. They are in otherwise perfect condition, but I sell them at a 30% discount, because I’m a perfectionist. πŸ™‚

There are very limited quantities, so don’t wait! Snag a great deal on these coasters, just in time for holiday entertaining.

Made with Arroyo – Dog Bandanas from Wildebeest Co.

October 18, 2017

Wildebeest Co. dog bandanasIt’s such a treat to see other companies integrating my Arroyo fabric designs into their products. One company making great use of Arroyo fabrics is Wildebeest Co., a small business making fun and versatile pet gear in the San Francisco bay area. If you follow them on Instagram, you’ll see how cute their bandana collars are ⏀ the pups featured in their stream look extra dapper as they go on adventures.

I chatted with Wildebeest Co. founder Jane Lee to get the scoop on what makes her pet gear special.

Featured Arroyo Stockist: Craft South in Nashville

September 27, 2017

Arroyo fabric at Craft South - fabric store in Nashville, TNIt’s been such a treat to get updates about the fabric shops carrying Arroyo. When I heard that Craft South in Nashville was carrying Arroyo fabrics, I reached out to the owner of this lovely shop (who also happens to be a fabric designer!) to interview her for my featured stockists series.

Founded in 2015, Craft South a a beautiful combination of fabric and yarn store, indie gift shop and creative workshop space. The Craft South blog chronicles all the fun things taking place in the shop, and highlights the caliber of creatives that are coming to the shop to teach. So many of my favorite artists and craftspeople have taught at this shop: Carolyn Freidlander, Sarah K Benning, Kristine Vejar from A Verb For Keeping Warm, and Heather Jones have all taught classes in this lovely shop. It looks like an incredible space, and it would be my first stop on a trip to Nashville.

Below is my interview with Craft South owner, Anna Maria Horner.

Inspiration from C&F stockists

September 25, 2017

Cotton & Flax textiles at Need SupplySpotted this lovely arrangement on the Need Supply Instagram feed last week, and I fell in love with their styling. They’re currently carrying the Hills + Valleys pillow, the Confetti napkins, and lots of other pieces. I love when my stockists embrace the vibe of my handmade textiles.
