Mother’s Day is May 10th!

May 4, 2015

Good Twin and Cotton & Flax

If you need to pick up a Mother’s Day gift, check out our tea towels and sachets, which make great gifts for Mom. Cotton & Flax also offers gift wrapping with a gift note option, so you can send your gift directly to her door in time for Sunday.

Wondering about that super cute gold foil card? It’s made by my friend Katie, who runs a stationery company here in LA called The Good Twin Co.! I just sent my Mom one of her cards – hope she likes it. 🙂

Printing Tote Bags at Common Thread in LA

April 30, 2015

Printing workshop

Most of you know that my background is originally grounded in fine art printmaking. I sold my prints on paper online well before I founded Cotton & Flax, and I still get so much joy from sharing my knowledge about printmaking with others. With that in mind, I had a great time teaching my printed tote bag workshop at Common Thread earlier this month! It was a great group of creative folks, and I was completely blown away with the cool designs my students created in class.

Thought you might like to see some behind the scenes photos from the workshop – a big thank you to Ryan and Matt from Read Coterie for taking these photos!

I’ll be teaching more workshops here in LA and in San Francisco in June – sign up for email updates to be notified when those classes debut.

Discussing Creative Inspiration and Success on the She Percolates Podcast

She Percolates Podcast

I feel so honored to have been interviewed for the She Percolates podcast! My episode just debuted, and you can listen to it on the She Percolates website, or by heading to iTunes and downloading the episode.

We discussed a lot of nuanced topics, including finding inspiration, avoiding comparisons with others, and what success can look/feel like for creative business owners (hint: it’s not what you might expect). Go listen to the episode, and let me know what you think over on Facebook or Twitter!

New Stockist: Sunday Supply Co.

April 27, 2015

Sunday Supply Co in Ft. Collins Colorado

Happy to announce our newest stockist: Sunday Supply Co. in Fort Collins, Colorado. This might be one of the prettiest retail shops I’ve seen in a while – look at their lovely front entrance!

Sunday Supply Co.

Sunday Supply Co. carries a collection of quality apparel, accessories, and denim, combined with well-crafted home goods they hand selected with a relaxed yet sophisticated lifestyle in mind. Driven by a love for quality time with the people we care for most, Sunday Supply Co. was named in honor of casual afternoons filled with good people and good conversation. What an admirable way to choose goods for a retail store! Delighted to have Sunday Supply Co. stocking our tea towels and coasters.

New Lavender Sachets – A Collaboration with Minor Thread

April 21, 2015

Lavender sachets from Cotton & Flax

2015 is shaping up to be a year of awesome collaborations at Cotton & Flax. One of the best parts of running a creative business is the opportunity to work with talented friends and makers, and I have been actively looking for ways to work with other local creatives on fun projects.

Gold confetti linen sachet

I wrote recently about focusing on sustainability when designing for Cotton & Flax, and that’s exactly what I had in mind when I reached out to my friend Charlie, owner of Minor Thread. I had a giant pile of linen scraps, leftover from making our pillows, tea towels, and napkins — I can’t bear to throw this beautiful fabric out! We decided to create a small collection of Cotton & Flax sachets, made by Charlie using remnant linen from previous Cotton & Flax projects, and wonderfully fragrant organic lavender.

Linen sachets - Cotton & Flax

I’ve been sharing Charlie’s photos from behind the scenes on Instagram, and I’m excited to debut these beautiful sachets in the shop today, just in time for Mother’s Day. Our sachets make a great “just because” gift for friends, too. I love the scent of lavender, and studies have shown that the scent of lavender can promote relaxation – who doesn’t love that?

There are very limited numbers of these sachets, but if they are popular, I’ll be working with Charlie to create a wider range of sachets for a second edition. Here’s hoping that you love the sachets as much as I do.

Real Home Inspiration

April 17, 2015

Beautiful modern kitchen

Wanted to share some Cotton & Flax sightings! I spotted one of my tea towels on Refinery 29 yesterday, the beautiful modern home of Anna Dorfman. It’s such a thrill to spot my work “in the wild.” I get so much inspiration from seeing how you style your Cotton & Flax goods at home.

Laure Joliet's Studio

Love this photo of Laure Joliet‘s studio, the pillows mixed with the lambswool is so cozy.

Cozy bedroom

I love following Whitney Leigh Morris‘s on Instagram, she shares such beautiful photos of her home. Here she styled a Cotton & Flax pillow with lots of other neutral textures in the bedroom to create a layered look. Doesn’t hurt that her pup Stanlee is pretty much the cutest, too!

Show me how you style Cotton & Flax goods in your home! Tag me on Instagram, and I may share your photo here on the blog!
