I loved chatting with Jess from the Create & Thrive podcast earlier this year, and my episode debuted this week! Check out the episode, where we talk about my creative journey, and what it’s like to run a textile home goods company.
Inspiring bits from around the internet this week:
Just discovered Justina Blakeney’s post about how to select the perfect throw pillows. Justina is the pattern-mixing queen.
Many people have asked me about my experience with Etsy Wholesale and how I started selling my work in West Elm. Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge did a whole episode of After the Jump covering Etsy Wholesale and West Elm’s LOCAL initiative, worth a listen!
I was interviewed by Pat Sloan on American Patchwork & Quilting Radio last week! You can here our quick conversation by visiting Pat Sloan’s site.
Have you seen the amazing video Tastemade created of Rule of Three Studio‘s marbling process? Absolutely captivating. Paige, the owner and designer behind the collection, is a true artist, and I so admire her work.
I’ve been posting a bit more frequently to Instagram stories! Follow along if you like getting sneak peeks into my studio process.
Wysh is a lovely new gift shop and boutique, not too far from the Cotton & Flax studio in San Diego. I’m delighted that they’ll be carrying our notebooks, coasters, and tea towels. Located in Carlsbad Village, this sweet little shop is filled with clothing, jewelry, and gifts made by artisans from all over the US.
Wysh is hosting their grand re-opening after remodeling the space, so stop by on 4/7 and shop their affordable range of unique gifts if you’re in the area!
Today you’ll find five new throw pillow designs in the shop! These are new colorways of a few of our classic designs, and add a lovely pop of pattern to your home for Spring.
I am so grateful to Hatched Collective for opening up their San Diego studio for our pillow photoshoot! It’s such a special place, and I feel happy to have met so many creative women through their community.
One of the best parts of being a textile designer is seeing the ways that makers use my fabric designs to create their own beautiful pieces. Contemporary pattern design for the fabric industry can sometimes skew towards a more cute, feminine aesthetic, so I think my fabric designs might be different than what you might expect to find in a fabric store. My pattern designs for Arroyo, my first fabric yardage collection for Robert Kaufman, are super modern, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing how contemporary fashion designers and savvy DIYers would use my fabric.
It’s been a while since my last roundup of amazing projects sewn with Arroyo. I have been particularly floored by the super-stylish outfits made with my fabric ⏤ there are so many talented sewists out there! I’m seeing tons of inspiration on Instagram, and thought I’d collect my favorites into a post to inspire you to sew with Arroyo fabric!…
