Patternful Homes on Instagram

Cotton & Flax at home

It’s been so exciting to see Cotton & Flax pieces pop up in my Instagram feed lately! Check out how Shelli from Worley’s Lighting and Bianca from Chaparral Studio styled their Cotton & Flax pillows at home. Each home features similar elements (two beautiful fiddle leaf fig trees!), but they each have totally different overall style.

I love seeing how you style your home with pattern – share photos of how you style Cotton & Flax goods by tagging @cottonandflax on Instagram.

Homes filled with Pattern

April 24, 2014

Cotton & Flax Neutrals

It’s so inspiring to see how you integrate Cotton & Flax pieces into your homes, and I’ve been delighted to spot Cotton & Flax pieces pop up in my feed on Instagram and on my favorite design blogs. The photo above is from a home tour of a beautiful Venice Canal Cottage on Apartment Therapy, I love the way that Whitney and Adam integrate so much subtle pattern into their living room, it feels lush and textured without being overwhelming.

Kate Miss Home

My friend Kate shared this sweet photo of her new pup on her blog recently. Kate isn’t afraid to mix bold patterns, her style is so fresh. Kate owns the small gold plus pillow, in case you’re looking to update your sofa with a pop of yellow.

Pattern inspiration, elsewhere:

● Ace Hotel’s new pattern-filled location in Panama, the American Trade Hotel. Especially loving the black and white tile on the patio, so striking!

● Design*Sponge posted guides to popular patterns back in January.

● Justina Blakeney’s gorgeous patio overhaul – she embraces color and pattern like no one else.

Cotton & Flax in HGTV Magazine

Beautiful Patio - HGTV

I searched through the archives just to be sure, but it looks like I somehow managed to neglect to mention one exciting bit of news from 2013: a Cotton & Flax pillow was featured in the July/August issue of HGTV Magazine!

Designer Haskell Harris showcased our mint brushstroke pillow in a piece that compared her own style with her mother’s decorating style – both women have incredible taste. She styled my pillow in a backyard dining area, I loved seeing this fresh take on where you can add a pillow for extra color and comfort.

Want to see where else Cotton & Flax has been featured? Check out all our press mentions, and let me know if you spot a Cotton & Flax piece in a home tour or somewhere notable online!

My new favorite magazine: Anthology

September 13, 2013

Anthology Magazine

Last week I took a quick trip up to Portland to visit family, my first long weekend off from work in quite a while. My friend Laura gifted me a few back issues of Anthology Magazine a while back, and I spent the two hour flight perusing them. I don’t normally find flying to be all that luxurious (maybe I’d feel differently if I rode in first class, instead of crammed into a middle seat in the second-to-last row, seated next to two armrest hogs…), but something about kicking back with a magazine makes me feel like I’m on vacation. The fact that Anthology happens to be beautifully designed and wonderfully inspirational is just the icing on the cake.

Anthology is a shelter and lifestyle magazine, founded by Anh-Minh Le and Meg Mateo Ilasco, that takes a narrative approach to its coverage of home decor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture. I love the peeks into beautiful homes, they feature so many different styles of decor and each new home they feature feels fresh and unexpected. I loved reading the article about Jenny and Joseph Conway’s home in Portland, Maine, which captured all the unique details of their small space. I loved the honesty of that piece, the way they shared how their home has come together over the years through scavenging and collecting things from around their community.

Anthology Magazine

Now that I’m back from my trip, I’m hoping to get my hands on the newest issue of Anthology. Are there any other new magazines I should check out? What do you like to read on vacation?
